Bioniqs Ltd - Introduce new ionic liquid kits

27 Aug 2008

Bioniqs (York, UK) has added three solvent kits to their portfolio in advance of the launch of the company’s 2009 product catalogue.

The three product kits offer a representative selection of ammonium salts and will be of particular interest to researchers who are new to protic ionic liquids (PILs). A ‘Product Catalogue Starter kit’, ‘Low Viscosity kit’ and ‘Hydrophobic kit’ are now available. With the increasing demand for green/clean technologies, coupled with stringent environmental and chemical legislation, this initiative is aimed to further fuel the interest and industrial implementation of PILs.

“The kits offer an easy, low-cost entry route for those interested in assessing the suitability of PILs for novel applications” says Marketing Manager Robert Newton.  “The materials offer a wide spread of physical properties and a snapshot of the range of capabilities offered by these remarkable solvents”.

Notes to Editors:

  • Bioniqs is pioneering the development and implementation of green solvent technologies into industries that have previously been reliant on hazardous solvents. The company evaluates the marketplace of green solvents and possesses a specialist expertise and IP position with novel PILs. In total over 12 million solvents can be screened in their solvent selection service (‘solventS’). Additionally 200 of Bioniqs ionic liquids are sold in a stand-alone product catalogue.
  • Ionic liquids are a sustainable new technology with the potential to solve major industry challenges and replace conventional solvents in a wide range of applications. They are composed of pure salts that are liquid below 100°C. Bioniqs PILs offer high solvation capacities for a wide range of materials and are biodegradable, recyclable, non-toxic and low cost. Current applications include natural product extraction, biomass processing, industrial cleaning and plastic recycling
