Ilika Technologies Ltd - NXP selects Ilika for involvement in phase change memory R&D programme
25 Mar 2008
Ilika Technologies Ltd, one of the world’s leading high-throughput materials discovery companies, today announced that it had entered into a research collaboration with NXP Semiconductors, the independent semiconductor company founded by Philips, in the accelerated development and optimization of new phase change memory materials.
This research will build upon NXP’s previous success in the PCRAM field and aim to both escalate and fast-track their current efforts in this area.
Dr Maura Jolliffe, Business Development Director at Ilika, stated, “We are delighted to have been selected by NXP for this project. At a time when the semiconductor industry is tightening its belt, we are excited that the productivity gains offered by our approach have been recognized by one of the industry leaders”.
“Applying Ilika’s unique approach to the optimization of the materials needed for phase change memory is expected to accelerate our product development, allowing NXP to continue its track record of delivering innovative products to the market”, stated Dirk Gravesteijn, Affiliation Program Manager at NXP.
Ilika Technologies has already successfully partnered with a number of major clients in the energy, automotive and electronics sectors who have been seeking novel and patentable materials for a range of different applications including fuel cell, battery and solar cell materials. The successful application of its high throughput capability to the electronics sector is possible due to the in-house development of bespoke optical and electrical screening devices and techniques that can comprehensively identify and characterize materials that exhibit required performance characteristics.
